Terms of service
What you can do with Lumural, what we owe you in return, and what happens when either side walks away.
01What Lumural is
These terms govern your use of Lumural, a design and whiteboarding tool at lumural.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
CA Systems operates the Service from Sweden ("we", "us"). Contact: support@lumural.com. We provide our organisation number and postal address on request.
Lumural lets you create boards, slides and other visual content in your browser. You can keep boards private, share them with a workspace, or publish them to the Lumural community where others can view and fork them.
02Accounts
You need an account to use most of the Service. You must be at least 16 years old.
You sign in with an email address and password, or with a magic link sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping your credentials private and for everything done under your account. Tell us at support@lumural.com if you think your account has been compromised.
03Sharing private boards
On the Free plan you can invite a small number of people to a private board. Invitees can view and edit the board according to the access you give them. They do not gain any ownership of it. You remain the owner and can remove an invitee or revoke access at any time. If you delete the board, their access ends.
Only invite people who would reasonably expect to hear from you. We send the invitation on your behalf and store the invited address until the invitation is accepted or expires.
04Team workspaces
A workspace is a private space shared by a team on the Team plan. The person who creates a workspace is its owner. The owner can invite members, remove members, change the plan and delete the workspace.
Workspace content belongs to the workspace. Anything a member creates inside a workspace is owned by the workspace owner (or the organisation the owner represents), not by the individual member. If a member leaves or is removed, their contributions stay in the workspace. If you are joining someone else's workspace, understand this before you contribute.
The owner is responsible for the workspace: its members, its content and its compliance with these terms.
05Plans and payment
The Service has a Free plan and a Team plan. Current limits and prices are shown at lumural.com/pricing. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice to affected workspace owners.
The Team plan is billed per workspace through [PAYMENT PROVIDER]. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise. If payment fails, we may suspend the workspace after a reasonable grace period. Content is not deleted on suspension, but the workspace becomes read-only until payment resumes or the owner exports and deletes it.
06Your content
You own what you create on Lumural, subject to section 4 for workspace content.
To run the Service we need a licence from you. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, render, display and back up your content, and to generate previews and thumbnails from it. We use this licence only to provide, secure and improve the Service. It ends when you delete the content, except for backup copies, which expire on their own schedule (see our Privacy Policy).
We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train machine learning models.
07Publishing and the community
When you publish a board you make it public. Anyone can view it, and, depending on the licence you choose, fork it. You choose one of:
- CC0: you waive your rights. Anyone may use it for anything.
- CC BY: anyone may use and adapt it, with attribution to you.
- All rights reserved: others may view the board on Lumural and fork it on Lumural to learn from it, but gain no rights to use it elsewhere.
Whichever you choose, you grant every Lumural user the right to view the published board and its process history on Lumural.
Forks are independent copies. If you delete or unpublish the original, existing forks remain, with attribution to you where the licence requires it.
Templates. Boards we publish ourselves as templates are released under CC0 unless the board says otherwise. Fork them, change them, use them for anything, no attribution needed.
Only publish content you have the right to publish. You are responsible for anything in a public board, including other people's marks, images or personal data.
08Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including copyright and privacy;
- upload malware or attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- harass, threaten or abuse others, or publish content that is hateful, sexually explicit or promotes violence;
- publish personal data about others without a lawful basis;
- scrape the Service or use it to build a competing product;
- resell access or share one account between several people.
09Reports and takedowns
Anyone can report a published board from the board page or by emailing support@lumural.com. If you believe a board infringes your copyright, tell us what is infringed, where it appears and how to reach you.
We may remove content, unpublish boards, suspend or terminate accounts, and take other reasonable steps where we believe these terms have been broken. We will normally tell you why, unless the law prevents us or the situation is urgent.
10Termination and deletion
You can delete your account, a board or a workspace at any time from settings. A workspace can only be deleted by its owner. Deleting your account removes your personal boards; your contributions to a Team workspace stay with the workspace (see section 4).
Deleted content is removed from our live systems within 30 days and from backups within 60 days. Published boards that others have forked remain available in their forks. You can export boards to PDF or PNG before deleting them.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, or that have been inactive for more than [24] months after warning you by email.
11Availability, warranties and liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be available, error-free or secure, or that content will never be lost. Keep your own copies of anything important. We are not liable for lost, corrupted or unrecoverable content.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
12Data protection
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. If you use a Team workspace for an organisation, our Data Processing Agreement forms part of these terms and governs how we process personal data on your behalf.
13Intellectual property
The Service itself, its software, design, name and branding, belongs to us or our licensors. These terms grant you no rights in it beyond using the Service as intended.
If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
14Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email or in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
15Governing law
Swedish law governs these terms. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Swedish courts, unless mandatory consumer law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
